It’s not often that you meet a pop star potential who is genuine, authentic, and looks at life with a positive viewpoint. Enter Canadian musical artist, Valdii with his international radio debut of two new songs, “Toxic” and “Comfortable”, both based on personal experiences. Host Kenneth Jeon finds out how Valdii got started and how his music has evolved. When he was asked about what he would have done differently in hindsight, Valdii responded, “Nothing. I have no regrets. Everyone has a destiny to live.” Nicely uttered!
Kenneth reads Courtney Cheng’s chapter, The Gift of Hindsight, from the book, Be the Star You Are! Millennials to Boomers Celebrating Gifts of Positive Voices in a Changing Digital World, and also Brigitte Jia’s newspaper article about the 20th anniversary of Be the Star You Are!® happening on September 9th. Jack Pawlakos closes out the hour with his closing segment “Trends without Ends” talking about what is going on now and what we can look forward to in the future of music! Music sales have surpassed $19 billion with paid subscriptions to platforms such as Spotify or Apple music in 2019. Global music is more accessible than ever before, as well as the ability to connect with local artists. It’s an exciting time to listen to music!

“Hindsight is always 20/20.” Billy Wilder
One of Canada’s most promising pop prospects, Valdii has made a name for himself as a skillful songwriter capable of turning out radio-ready chart hits. After studying music in his native city of Toronto, Valdii was swiftly spotted by Warner Music, who signed him up to a major-label deal. His debut release with his pop band called Eleven Past One, ‘The World is Ours’, became a gold-certified smash hit that announced the arrival of a major talent on the global music scene. Since then, he’s gone from strength to strength, working with high-profile producers while honing his skills as a live performer. Despite its dark subject matter, Valdii’s ‘Toxic’ remains a bouncy and uplifting anthem that deals with real-life issues through a pop-focused context. Listen to the international radio debuts of “Toxic” and his newest single, “Comfortable“ on Express Yourself!™.
